About Me!
Hello,
My name is Elaine Banfield-Eriksson, and I am a fused-glass artist working with a technique in which layers of glass are melted together to create a variety of unique objects. I am deeply passionate about glass and its transformative nature and how it can be shaped into something that is both visually expressive and beautifully functional.
My interest in glass began after taking a highly inspiring course in glassblowing in Aldershot, Surrey. Wanting to explore the material on a more intimate scale, I continued my studies in Brighton, where I focused on creating glass charms and small sculptural forms. These early experiences led me to establish my own practice, investing in a glass kiln and developing a collection of work that spans art pieces, jewellery, and everyday objects.
Originally from the island of Barbados, my work is strongly influenced by its culture, light, and natural beauty. These elements continue to shape my aesthetic and are subtly reflected throughout my creations.
After nearly 25 years in London, my husband and I relocated to Stockholm, where I continue to explore glass in all its forms from my studio, embracing its balance of fragility and strength.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
