About Me!

Hello,

My name is Elaine Banfield-Eriksson, and I work with fused glass, an art form in which layers of glass are melted together in a kiln and transformed into unique creations. What fascinates me most is glass's ability to change; how separate pieces can fuse into something entirely new, filled with colour, light, and character.

My love of glass began during an inspiring glassblowing course in Aldershot, Surrey. It was there that I discovered the magic of the material and its endless possibilities. That curiosity led me to Brighton, where I worked with glass beads and small sculptural forms. Over time, my passion grew into something more, and I established my own studio, invested in a kiln, and began creating a collection of work that ranges from art pieces and jewellery to functional objects for everyday life.

I was born and raised on the island of Barbados, and its vibrant colours, tropical light, and close connection to the sea continue to inspire my work. These influences often find their way into my creations, sometimes boldly, sometimes more subtly through colour, form, and atmosphere.

After nearly 25 years in London, my husband and I moved to Stockholm, where I continue to explore the possibilities of glass from my studio. Every firing is a balance of planning and surprise, a process that constantly reminds me why I fell in love with this remarkable material.
