About Me!
Hello,
My name is Elaine Banfield-Eriksson and I am a British self-taught, fused-glass artist, a technique where you fuse colors and glass together. I am very passionate about glass and how it, in its molten form, can be shaped into something so beautiful but also very useful.
I became interested in glass after I took a very inspiring course in glassblowing in Aldershot, Surrey in England. After that I wanted to explore glass as a material but in the smaller format so I also took a course in creating glass charms and beads in Brighton, Sussex in England. After these courses I invested in my first own glass kiln and I have been creating art, jewelry and everyday objects from glass ever since.
I have also completed courses in silversmithing and jewellery design at Chelsea College in London, England. By combining all the knowledge from these courses, I have the opportunity to create freely and to design by hand, a large amount of completely unique art, jewelry and other everyday items mainly made of glass.
Originally, I am from the small paradise island of Barbados and many of my creations are inspired by the culture and nature there.
After almost 25 years in London, England, my husband and I moved to Stockholm a year ago and here I have been working in a small studio on Henriksdalsberget where I continue to explore my creativity with glass in all its forms.
